Background / Overview
LX Hausys America, a leading manufacturer of decorative materials, has long been known for its beautiful quartz and solid surface products. However, the company offers an expansive array of other products ideal for kitchen and bath environments. LX Hausys needed a strategy to promote this during the industry’s largest trade show, the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), in 2026.
Challenges
At a major trade show like KBIS, brands compete heavily for attendee attention. LX Hausys wanted an experience that would stand out from traditional product displays and events, while encouraging meaningful interaction with its wide array of product solutions.
The company specifically wanted to:
- Increase booth traffic and lead scans
- Encourage designers to interact with all of its product types in a hands-on way
- Generate organic social media engagement during KBIS
- Increase social media followers on Instagram
- Create a memorable, design-focused booth experience
- Position LX Hausys as a brand offering a wide array of design-forward kitchen & bath product solutions
Strategy & Execution
Understanding the client’s goals, challenges and the key audiences it wanted to connect with at KBIS, Spaulding Communications worked closely with the client to develop a highly interactive and engaging Mood Board Contest. The contest encouraged attendees – kitchen and bath designers, surface fabricators and home building professionals – to work directly with LX Hausys’ full portfolio of products in a fun, creative and literal hands-on way. The contest also served as the focal point for generating increased social media visibility, booth traffic and enhanced lead generation opportunities. Spaulding Communications partnered with LX Hausys on a variety of pre-show, at-show and post-show activities to promote the Mood Board Contest.
Prior to KBIS, to build excitement and awareness, we created several highly customized LinkedIn and Instagram posts using engaging copy, strong CTAs and visually compelling imagery. As a means to drive increased booth attendance, we worked with the client to ensure Mood Board Contest participants could win Starbucks gift cards and daily prizes.
During KBIS, Spaulding Communications’ social media manager was onsite to help manage the Mood Board Contest. Attendees were guided to the Mood Board Station and directed to create their own personal mood boards using samples from LX Hausys’ product portfolio: VIATERA quartz, BORTE panels, HFLOR resilient flooring, TERACANTO porcelain and HIMACS solid surface. Attendees could also use decorative elements, including various fabrics and hardware pieces, to further demonstrate how LX Hausys product could be easily paired with other kitchen or bath items, fueling greater design possibilities. After completing their mood boards, attendees were asked to upload a photo to Instagram and tag LX Hausys. QR codes were displayed throughout the station to make the process seamless. Participants were then eligible to receive a Starbucks gift card and receive a daily prize.
Also at KBIS, the agency’s social media manager conducted several other vital activities, both online and onsite at the booth. Online, she engaged with attendees in real time by monitoring Instagram tags, interacting with shared content and helping amplify participant posts throughout the show. Onsite, she coordinated the contest judging process alongside the LX Hausys team by reviewing participant submissions and helping identify standout mood boards each day based on creativity and design execution. The team also communicated directly with contest winners onsite and through social media to ensure an easy participant experience.
Following KBIS, LinkedIn and Instagram posts were created thanking booth visitors, the mood board contest participants and recapping highlights from the show. These posts included sharing compelling short videos and images to further drive social media engagement.
Results
The Mood Board Contest successfully transformed the LX Hausys booth into an interactive and highly shareable experience at KBIS 2026.
Results included:
- 3,383 total booth lead scans generated during KBIS, representing an 8% increase over KBIS 2025
- 162 Instagram mentions tied to the activation, representing a 14% increase over KBIS 2025
- 436 new Instagram followers gained following KBIS, representing a 199% increase over KBIS 2025
- Strong attendee participation across all three days of the show
- Increased engagement between attendees and the LX Hausys sales team
- Organic user-generated content shared directly from the show floor
Most critically, the strategic planning – along with the pre-show, onsite, and post-show execution – allowed attendees to see and experience the full scope of LX Hausys’ various design-forward solutions and how they could support any kitchen, bath or home design project.
